Best Telecine for Vision2 Negative shot at 18fps?
I'm looking for advice on a high quality place that can do a direct-to-drive transfer of Vision2 Negative at 18 fps. I sent some rolls to a respected place, and there's interlacing artefacts that entirely unacceptable to me. They are saying that the problem is "caused by the pulldown needed to ...

Re: Ludacris aiming a Canon S8 on cover
It's on the cover of XXL, not XXX. I saw it at a newsstand today, but didn't have a chance to look inside (running for a train). The website XXLmag.com has a small, cropped image from the cover, but it's buried....

Re: Airport X-Ray Report
James Schneider did an experiment with air port X-rays machine. I saw the results in January and thee certainly were visible and increasingly dramatic! Here's a description (from James Schneider's website, http://www.jamesjune.info) : Part 1. Shroud of Security 3'30", 16mm, color, 2007 One hund...

Hand-processing Velvia
has anyone tried hand-processing Velvia? I was thinking of trying it but I was wondering if there's anything I need to know... Just use E-6 processing? I've had good results processing Ektachrome 7240 and the new 64T in E-6. No antihalation backing to deal with.... Experiences? Thanks! Stephen Kent ...

From the subject line I was hoping for Freddy Mercury.

Re: Buying carts in NYC
Buying directly form Kodak on W. 31st St is the cheapest option. 360 West 31st St New York, NY 10001 (212) 631-3414 B&H is ok, but they will have a mark-up over Kodak. Note also that B&H is closed on Friday afternoons and all day Saturday (but open Sunday). There are lots of other places in ...

Super8 France's 160T stock -- comments or evaluation?
Does anyone have any experience with this film stock:
Super 8 France HR2
100ASA (daylight) 160ASA (tungsten)
Just curious how much grain there is in this stock, and what the colors are like... Anyone?
Thanks!

Leicina Special Repair (NY / USA)
Hi I've recently acquired a Leicina Special, which looks great, but the motor doesn't respond when the trigger is depressed. The battery test button registers, so it's not the batteries or the pack. I can't SEE anything wrong... Does anyone have: 1. ideas 2. a recommendation for a repair person, pre...

S8 telecine service in NYC
I can't recommend Pac Lab for quality telecine. Not sure what system they use but if you want a transfer for professional use, there are other places to go. For reversal film I always use Brodsky & Treadway in Rowley MA, even though I'm in NYC, a few blocks from Pac Lab. B&T do the best job,...

Polaroid movie camera
I don't understand the hostility to the Polavision system. It's a very interesting piece of history. I have multiple land players and cameras, and cases of unexposed film, and collections of home movies, because I think it's a novelty and rife with possibilities. The color is great and I actually th...

Super 8 > Ink Jet = Magic!
Not sure I understand the resistance to this innovative process. Most art is not "practical," and is often created through a process that doesn't make economic sense. But so what? This is interesting and cool, and clearly a labor of love. A lot like shooting Super8 with 30-year-old cameras...

Home Processing Instructions
I've processed Plus-X, Tri-X and 7240 at home, using spiral Superior Bulk tanks, and using buckets. B&W is pretty easy, but I don't like the new developer. I mix D-19 developer (which van be bought cheaply in powder form). I have also used the T-max developing kit, which is a bit easier since it...

John Porter Super 8 Event in Islington, London 4th February
I saw John's show in Rotterdam last week, and it was great. John is very nice, and lots of fun at the show. He presented 14 films, all projected on a GS 1200 Xenon projector. It was a delight, and many other people attending the festival were very taken with his work. I absolutely recommend it! Step...

Richard Nixon, the FBI and Super 8
I saw about an hour of the Nixon films in 2006 at Anthology Film Archives in New York. There was a packed house, and we saw a 16mm blow up. Speakers included people from the National Archives, Nixon afficionados, and others. The films were silent, but people talked, asked questions and identified pe...
