English
Andreas - Your English is very, very good. Everything seems very clear and proper to me. The only thing I noticed was a typo in this sentence fragment: "The site offers and extensive library of downloadable manuals," It should read, "The site offers an extensive library..." - Jeff

Uncompressed
Fred - Well, I still don't know why Dodcap yielded the same thing in uncompressed mode. On my system, when I use uncompressed, I get a file that is labeled with "no compression." In any case, it sounds like your best bet here is HuffYUV, since its quality is equivalent to the best your car...

Uncompressed
Fred - Well, thanks for the compliment on Dodcap. I do wish it would work capturing uncompressed though!!! I'll look at the code tonight and see if I can figure out what scenario could cause it to not store compressed. I'm really surprised it doesn't. However...there really isn't much point in stori...

Default Codec
Fred - By default, does your video card produce uncompressed video, or some other codec? In Dodcap, if you choose to capture with the <Capture Card Default Codec> compression option, it will take whatever comes directly out of your capture card and store it on the hard drive in the AVI file. When it...

Pulldown
Hi Dom - Hmmm...I just did a quick check with Roger, and it sounds like he is using the traditional 2:3 pulldown. The pattern is AA BB BC CD DD, which I understand to be 2:3. A guestion though: how did you view the footage to verify the pattern? Did you view it on a television set or the computer mo...

Sound
Well, I would love to have this type of feature in Dodcap. Could you give me a link to the topic where Jukkasil talks about doing this?

Features
Okay...I had not thought of the English needing feet as well. Good point. I will make the default feet as it is now, and make an advanced setting that allows any user to switch to meters if they wish. Does that sound okay? The mouse delay function may be problematic though. I am reluctant to add thi...

Yes, it is released
Yes, it is released...and I already have many requests for changes! For one, I am going to make the film footage counters appear in meters if Dodcap is configured for PAL. Also, I am going to move the media player out of the File menu and make it a main menu item. I am changing a couple of things on...

DV Codec
You could try this: on Dodcap's main window, there is a combo box where you can select a video codec. I usually recommend selecting <Capture Card Default Codec>. However, in this case, you could select "DV Video Encoder", then press the "Advanced..." button. There are some settin...

Pulldown
In general, you should avoid doing pulldown during capture. In fact, version 1.36 of Dodcap removes the option to do pulldown during capture. Actually, the ability is still there, but it is disabled and can only be re-enabled through an advanced menu setting. I always do a plain old capture, followe...

Mouse Down
When you put it this way, I can sort of see why this makes a difference. I still need to think this through a little bit though. I am running on about three hours of sleep right now due to a) picking in-laws up in the middle of the night at the airport followed by b) 2.5 yr. old child who decided to...

Not Knowing Up From Down
On a machine running Microsoft Windows, a mouse-down message always occurs paired with a mouse-up message. You can't have one without the other. The down message will either be WM_LBUTTONDOWN or WM_LBUTTONDBLCLK, depending on how fast you press the button. It will then be followed by a WM_LBUTTONUP ...

16 fps Speed Change
Jack - You can do a "perfect" 16 fps to NTSC speed change in the Dodcap version you already have. By "perfect," I mean almost exactly 16 fps, not "perfect looking." If you look in the help file for Dodcap, under "Appendix B: Advanced Features," you will see ho...

Dodcap 1.36 Update
I just wanted to let Dodcap users know that the next release is almost ready. I am performing final testing on the install packages at the moment. Unfortunately, the release does not include an updated users guide / help file. In the interest of getting this release out there, I decided to release w...
