Hmmm...that web design looks familiar...

Just out of curiosity, why the JPEG text? It keeps it from being searchable via Google...is that part of the plan?

Re: Perry Movie Transfers

Nice! I can relate to the hard drive disclaimer. Sometimes it seems that no matter how hard you stress that the drive be NTFS formatted, you still get Mac formatted drives from people that just don't work with Windows. Locals drop off and pick up next day, but some will end up having to make 2-3 tr...

Re: Approaching 6 Years Since End of Kodachrome Processing

Got the T-Shirt.

I miss the slide film just as much as the Super 8. But I loved the 16mm the best. Loved projecting that!

Re: Samples from In My Image 4k scan - down to HD

Is there any grain reduction applied? Even the original scan seems extremely low in grain, almost like it had been processed already. On the work flow, you are applying warp stabilizer to the 4k image, correct? It's kind of unfortunate that you have to use warp stabilizer, I've found that while it c...

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

16mm reversal has a great look...kinda like those old Hollywood "home movies" of the stars from the 40's (which were almost never shot by the stars but rather the studio system's PR department). Sharp but with that pastel-like quality.

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

Just having a color reversal stock in 16mm will be great. I remember the old Ektrachrome 160 which was pretty ugly but it had it's own character for sure. Completely different than the Ektachrome 64. When I need perfect I've got Vision 3 stocks. When I want character (which is most of the time on ho...

Re: Kodak Online Film Ordering is Open

What's really interesting is how Kodak is changing their entire motion picture film business model with this lab. They used to just sell the film and the chemicals. I guess they had to ensure that there was a lab left, but that puts those few remaining labs in a tough situation. For those labs to su...

Oh, and you may want to update the FAQ on the site as it has Q4 2015 as when production will begin.

Re: Hello from FILM Ferrania!

The good news for Ferrania is that there seems to be an even larger interest in film now. Especially for a decent (or any) reversal movie stock. Regular 8, Super 8 and 16mm would be well received.

Can't wait for that film to roll off the line!

Re: Spooling film

Sounds like a useful tool. Decent re-winds are expensive so I'm not sure how you make it for a profit but I could use one. What are your costs?

My lab always spooled those down for free for me, since I'd use them for processing. Labs always have tons of those 100' reels laying around...

Re: Vision 3 50D 8mm film - Bolex Plant in Switzerland

Too bad the V3 can't be reversed somehow! I'm so bad about getting out the projector these days that I don't really miss regular 8 reversal. That V3 scanned well is a quantum leap in quality for regular 8mm. But all the costs go up so much it's about the same as shooting 16mm. I know a guy that cou...

Wow, that's insanely good for Regular 8mm. If I can work out who in the U.S. would process that, I'd love to get some.

Who's Scanity did you use?

Re: Uncompressed Workflow Retro-Universal

Looks very good. I agree that little more time in Resolve could be warranted on color, but it looks great. Next time bring a tripod though! :) It's a little hard to determine what is camera shake vs. instability in the camera path or scanner. It is also really gratifying to see such a good scan come...
