Re: Wittnerchrome 100D now in Standard 8mm
OK, thank you very much. So I am assuming Wittner has a healthy supply of Ektachrome 100D for Standard 8? Wonder what happens after its used up?

This is reversal film just to clarify. Although I'm sure everyone has figured that out, ha.

Wittnerchrome 100D now in Standard 8mm
For those of us in the States, Dwaynes Photo is now selling Wittnerchrome 100D in Standard 8. The catalog now shows 2 stocks, the one I mentioned, and Wittnerchrome 200D for Super 8. Does anyone here know which stock Wittner would be using for the latest Standard 8 film? Afga possibly or maybe ...

Re: regular 8 finished.
Currently Dwaynes Photo has Cinechrome 100d Standard 8mm. I just shot a roll on vacation, and ordered another roll which is on the way. I'm not sure how much they have left. The price is $25 for a 25 foot roll. I sure will miss this stock. I switched to Standard 8 when Kodak pulled the plug on 100d ...

Re: Bolex 'B' & 'P' Regular 8 cameras - no loops?
Wanted to add I wouldn't go any further with the instructions than the part that mentions lubricating the inside. I have found there is no need to take the winding mechanism apart. I have not done so myself and it looks a bit tricky. What I have done to loosen up the winding is by adding some oil ...

Re: Bolex 'B' & 'P' Regular 8 cameras - no loops?
I own several Bolex cameras that include the B8, P1, P4, and the K2. I've only shot film using both the P4 and the K2. Both extremely great cameras that produce amazing results! The footage from both are rock solid. I think your problem here is 2 things. First, if you haven't done so yet, it's time ...

Re: Bolex P4 light meter
I also own and use a P4 and this is what I've done to compensate when using the modern PX1 1.5V batteries. On the ASA dial instead of using say the 100ASA for Ektachrome 100D I turned the dial so it reads 40ASA. You probably could also use the setting at 50ASA. At 40ASA I've found the images are ...

Re: Bolex P1 manual
Your P1 will need to be lubricated to run film properly. I have a P1, K2, and a P4 that all had to be taken apart and lubed. It is not hard to do but does require patience and a few small screw drivers. Once the camera has been properly lubed it will run the film at the proper speed. Trying to use a ...

Re: Ektachrome stopping at 48 feet or so
I've had this problem occur several times with my Minolta D6. I believe the issue is 2 things. As stated above older cameras are not quite up to spec anymore, and also Ektachrome 100D seems to be a thicker film. I just bought a roll of 100D and before loading the film I may try spraying some ...

Re: Does film cement keep forever?
I've never tried super glue on polyester film as all my films are acetate. When using super glue I sand-down the area I want to glue and then apply a small amount of super glue. I let it dry for a few moments, then sand-down any high surface areas, including across the width of the film, and across ...

Re: Does film cement keep forever?
I just use Super Glue and it works great! I've never had a problem nor have I had a single splice go bad. It does take some practice but once you get the hang of it, pretty easy. I even splice free hand, which takes some practice ha.

Re: My Best Results Have Been With this Camera.
Why the over exposure? MIKE
I believe this is to make up for the battery he is using. It underexposes due to wrong voltage. Original mercury battery calls for 1.3V.
Yes that is correct I am compensating for the change in voltage. Plus 100D benefits from some overexposure. Even a 1/3 of a stop ...

Re: My Best Results Have Been With this Camera.
Oh sorry I guess that would have been good information to add LOL. I used Ektachrome 100D. Colors and saturation look great. I overexpose by 2/3 of stop when using this film.

My Best Results Have Been With this Camera.
A processed roll of standard 8mm film returned from Dwayne's yesterday. The film (a test roll) had been shot last week with a Bolex K2. This Bolex is famous for it's Kern Switar lens. A test roll was a must to experience this for myself. So after cleaning and lubing the film I fired-up the projector ...

Re: Super 8 resolution compared with today's HD
I am by no means a professional film shooter, but I can tell you that I've had great results with 100D. I started shooting 100D in Super 8 and have just recently moved over to regular 8. Been using a Bolex P4 and a Bolex K2. The results are fantastic. The key to getting good results with both Super ...
