Well I just shot a roll of regular 8mm cinechrome 40 from dwayne's and it was dated to expire in oct 06. so that is good outlook for reg 8mm. what I don't understand is why would kodak discontinue super 8 but not reg 8mm ? must mean that more people are shooting reg 8mm than super8mm and maybe more ...

actually i'm not sure what the fstop was when I was filming becasue i wasn't watching the light meter inside the viewfinder but it was set on automatic and the sun was general behind me and sometimes to my left. but I'm assuming the fstop was around 11 or maybe even 8. My girlfriend was standing abo...

fstops and general lighting outdoors

I have a quick question: If I use a Fstop of 11 while filming outdoors with an ASA of 25 under sunny conditions will I have a good exposure ? or will it overshoot ? reason I ask is a got back a roll of reg 8mm a few weeks ago and it looks pretty good, however I can notice the areas when I panned wit...

Does anyone know where I can locate a new eyecup piece for a Bolex 8mm camera ? I own a S-1 model and don't have, I made a homemade one using black duct tape, but would like to have a regular eyecup. I tryed emailing a gentleman who had a website at fortunecity, but his email address doesn't work an...

have a question about filmleader ?

I have a roll of regular cinechrome 40 25FT spool, was wondering if this film has a 4FT leader first ? reason I ask is because the manual for my Bolex camera says to make sure you allow the 4ft leader to run onto the takeup roll first before shooting. Does this still apply to modern Kodak film ? Tha...

Norseman Yes I do have a owner's manual for my Bolex S-1. Here's what my manual states when using filters "When using filters the exposure is alterned and must be corrected. For this, you must first know the filter factor of your filter. Divide the ASA sensitivity number of the film being used ...

I did a test with my Bolex S-1 camera outside today under cloudy skies, without film and watched the metering through the viewfinder and it seemed to react to different lighting fairly well. I used the auto feature, and first pointed the camera at a black car it read something like 5.6, then on my w...

I think I may have figured out what the 1A stamped on the batteries means. Since my camera takes PX-1A, the 1A would probally mean PX-1A in short. The batteries are small so PX-1A would not fit across it all the way. Does that seem to make any sense. I guess the only way to find out would be to ask ...

Downmix, When u say under expose it by 1/8 are u referring to if I set the camera manually ? I will be using it in the auto mode, that's why I was wondering if I should set the ASA lower than 25 to 20 or is it the other way around ? I'm new to this 8mm filming, and am trying to learn as much as I ca...
