I love the looks of my Bolex P1. It got a lot of attention this Summer, when I filmed in several public locations.

It doesn't matter how many "snipe" bids come in at the last few seconds. Whoever bid the highest amount, wins.

I use esnipe.com, and am very pleased with it.

Sniping is allowed and approved by ebay, so there is nothing "dishonest" about it.

I bought one of those small soft vinyl ear (or baby) syringe bulbs from Wal-Mart ($2.50), cut off about half, reamed the other end so it would fit snug over the viewfinder eye piece, and it works ok. It doesn't look that bad either. Thank you. I think I'm going to try this, before spending more mon...

"I made a homemade one using black duct tape" I'm just interested in: is there any other method or idea I can repalace an eyecup practically - and cost nothing? Eg. something which we do not use as an eyecup but we can make of it an eyecup, with no cost - I don't know something which prob...

Shane, it sounds like my P1 automaticlly compensates for the use of filters, but your S1 does not. You'll need to follow your manual's instructions (and the advice of the experts here in this forum), and compensate for your filter AND 1.5 battery. Someone said to set the ASA at 20, so I'd go with th...

Do you have a manual for your Bolex S-1? I have a Bolex P1 that uses a 1.35v battery also. My owners manual says: "The Bolex photo-electric cell (battery) compensates for the light lost through filters automatically. To determine the exposure you should therefore use the figure for the true fil...

While viewing this film today, I was surprised to find some footage of my 2 nephews (12 and 15 years old) on here, goofing around (I must have been down at the lake at the time). I am now beginning to think that, while shooting some film of themselves, they may have popped open the door to look insi...

Why Would Some Of My Film Be Clear?

I just got back, from Dwayne's, some 8mm film I shot 10 days ago. It starts out just fine, with nice images, then the screen goes to white, and I notice that the film feeding into the projector looks clear, with no color. This lasts for about 1 minute, then I notice a little blue starting to show up...

If you're curious, you can film your girlfriend outdoors, about 10 feet away, without the filter, for 10 seconds. Then film the same scene with the filter on, and when you get your processed film back, you can see the difference the filter makes. If you drop your film off at Wal-Mart, you'll get it ...

Last month I shot a roll of this film with my 8mm camera, outdoors, in both sunny and cloudy conditions. Half the time I used an #85 filter, and half the time with no filter. The shots without the filter came out passable. The shots with the filter did add better colors, especially skin tones. Norse...

Does This Sentence Make Sense To You?

From the Bolex Zoom Reflex P1 Manual, under "Use of the Variable Shutter": "When filming with the shutter half closed, set the exposure dial to a number half the speed of your film expressed in ASA, or the double number of the filming speed." I want to film some moving subjects i...

As a former Wal-Mart employee, I'd like to add a few comments. A few years ago I briefly worked at Wal-Mart as an under cover security officer, catching shoplifters. Most of you don't know that Wal-Mart forces their employees to watch brainwashing videos, telling you that Sam Walton was basicly God,...
