Is anyone getting 720P or 1080i scans done? Its hard to tell much about the resolution and grain of these stocks in SD frame grabs.

Looks like jitter free super-8. A cool look if that's what you were going for, but personally I would be dissapointed by the softness of this if I had gone to the trouble of shooting 16mm.

Super-8 Cities Barcelona on 4Docs

Super-8 Cities Barcelona is now on 4Docs. This is a very short cut and particularly for this film, the longer version is MUCH better. Most of Albert's argument is lost in this short cut, which is more like a tour of the city. http://www.channel4.com/fourdocs/film/film-detail.jsp?id=39105 As always, ...

I really liked that work.
Beautiful pictures.
Yup. Please leave a review and good rating for the film since you liked it. Takes about two minutes to register and all that.

Re: My favorite of all the ones I've seen is EXETER

But when I was watching Exeter I forgot I was watching a "super 8" movie and instead was able to absorb the beautiful relationship between the narrative and the images. Such beautiful footage. Looks like it was shot on neg stock, too.... Great. I'm really glad you liked it, at least someo...

One of my favourite directors. His latest film, Climates was actually shot on HD 24p – this enabled him to shoot many takes – he was the main actor in it. Great film. My personal favourite is Clouds of May. Check them out if you haven’t already done so. Yes, he is also one of m...

Super-8 Cities is Film of the Week on 4Docs!!

After my reply to the editor's dismissive comments about Super-8 Cities, Gavin Lim's IDENTITY has become film of the week on 4Docs!!

This is something of a victory, as is the dedicated slot at the Brief Encounters this November!

I suspected as much from the contrasty look:

**photographs in this exhibition, all shot with a digital panoramic camera, look so like paintings**

Wonder what camera he used? They must have been shot at about 20 megapixels + considering the dimensions of reproductions he is selling.

EDIT: I could only watch Identity because the server is shit. Marvelous short though.
Cool! Glad you liked it, please leave a rating and a review if you can.

The DVD is cool too!

In response to the editor's comments on Gavin's film I wrote: **** The editor of 4Docs wrote "Like the other films in this series of personal urban portraits there needs to be the added element that cities are not buildings, traffic, weather, rules or regulations - cities are 'other people'.&qu...

Gavin Lim's IDENTITY (Singapore) and Pelle Koornstra's PARADISE (Amsetrdam) are up in short-cut form on 4Docs. There is some meandering and irrelevant prose from the editor cautioning against this style of documentary, which apparently went out of fashion in the sixties (god forbid), please put this...

You know, this sort of things seems to be getting out of hand. In the small town where my parents lived some teenagers had mass mailed all the residents urging them to log on and give their film the best rating so help them win a talent competition, appealing to the town's parochialism to see them t...

I like the sound of the cameras and lenses that can shoot dramatic aspect ratios from 2:1 to 4:1

Nuri Bilge Ceylan has done a lot of this cinemascope photography, although Im not sure what workflow he used to get his dimensions:
