Servicing lenses?

Hello! I have two old C-mount lenses which have apparently sat so long unused on somebody's attic that the grease in them has stiffened. The focusing ring on the prime lens is stuck and changing focal length of the zoom lens is extremely painful. Where would it be possible to service these lenses in...

Re: My Film Diary - tell smallformat about your newest films

Hello Juergen,

May one enter both 16mm and Super-8 sections, or only one of them? I'm starting a 16mm production soon and will probably write about it, but the prizes on the S-8 section are also quite good

I'm a student of theology in university, and I certainly can't afford to shoot film. And even then... I'm itching to get telecined that first V2 200t roll that's on my desktop waiting and calling for me... oh, who would offer me a cheap transfer of one negative super-8 film? :(

Smallformat 3/06 hasn't arrived...

Hello Jürgen!

I'm sorry to inform that I haven't seen yet my copy of Smallformat 3/06. What could be the problem? It shouldn't usually take this long for the post to deliver anything from Germany to Finland...

Yours,
Heikki Repo

EDIT: Ah, and that should have been a PM...

It is certainly understandable that most of us grieve for the loss of K40, but let's behave well, ok? :) John is here to help with all things filmy, and he certainly isn't the one behind the decisions to kill anything nor is he responsible for other problems a large corporation has. I, for one, cert...

Well, in fact I have been trying to obtain a 3-tube Ikegami for some time now, but it seems that I'm not the only one :) There are quite many old professional video cameras up in the ebay, but it seems there are also quite many collectors. I can't find other explanation for the high prices these bea...

Well, I have always bought my k40 at almost same price as Wittner offers E64T + processing... But then, I haven't been shooting S8 until 2004...

bolex h16 -- using filters?

As I'm soon finally getting to even shoot film with my bolex h16 non-rx, there is only one question left- how should I apply filters? My bolex is so old that it doesn't have a filterslot. I could buy a filter for each lens, but that doesn't seem to be the most economical way. So all tinkerers and bo...

Well, I had no big problems with that at all, even though my editing software is quite crude (linux editing-- Cinelerra) and not really the best option for such fine work. Camera was Bauer A512 and speeches not too long, but long enough :) And I didn't even use the slate for syncing in the editor......

Is it the grain, or why do those frames look somewhat blurry? Or is it just me?

Are you going to transfer to digital? There are lot more places to transfer super-8 reversal cheap than 16mm, especially 16mm negative... that's why I'm at the moment staying in super-8... I really would have to do more work with financing should I want to shoot my short movies on 16mm.

I understand.. But suppose they would make a digital adapter to put in your bodies instead of the film. With the same quality of film, of cource. Would you then consider it? Fred. Well, if I was asked, I wouldn't. For me it isn't only about the quality of the medium, but I just want to have some th...

No need. The point is, after all, that you take a shot with a higher fps and then play it out with the normal 24 fps.
