Mini DV is MUCH more forgiving. in the time and money you spend on a Super 8 film, you could have 4 mini-DV ones done. Mini-dv is definately much more forgiving. When you first go and talk with everyone that is supposedly big in film they have their 3 chip cameras and won't even allow you're one chip mini dv near anything. Basically the filter balances out teh color, so if you use the lamp one for inside you'll get more of a blueish tone and the opposite if you use it inside.
